ALUNDUM, S.A., has been dedicated to the manufacture of silicoaluminous refractory materials since 1956.

We began supplying the tunnel ovens of the ceramic industry with brickwork and supports; later, with the introduction of new technologies in the 60’s the manufacture of a large number of special refractory pieces began in line with the design of the boiler industry for agriculture, wood, iron and steel foundries and production of steam for industry.

When this cycle ended, a part of our production was directed towards the iron and steel industry and aluminium foundries. We have been supplying the aluminium industry in Spain for 24 years. In the 70’s, the designers and decorators observed that the beautiful natural tones of refractory materials were gaining ground against the varied ceramic production, and that rustic materials were beginning to take over in the area of decoration. In adaptation to this new trend the production of flower pot holders in refractory materials began, quality pieces of careful design, highly resistant to the outdoors, and which can put up with adverse atmospheric phenomena such as winds, cold spells and changes in temperatures.

In the 90’s, in addition to increasing the productive capacity for domestic refractory brickwork and refractory mortars, in ’98 we began the production of prefabricated products of elements for the cooking of foodstuffs traditionally prepared with refractory bricks with contemporary designs (prefabricated Barbecues and domestic ovens).

As from 2001, the high cost of putting up the refractory plaques led to the idea of meshing them on a fibreglass backing, this caused a significant lowering in the labour costs of putting up the product with the same functional and aesthetical result which, moreover, due to its reduced thickness is suitable for more areas.

All of our productive activity is aimed at a constant search for new refractory products which allow us to synchronize with new trends, trying to satisfy the market needs and offering a wide range of products to choose from.

As a fruit of our company’s research and development of new products in collaboration with sculptor Mariano Poyatos, in the international exhibition CEVISAMA 2004 in the Valencia trade fair, we received the accésit a los Alfa de Oro, a prize awarded annually by the Spanish Society of Ceramics and Glass in said exhibition, for the product called PORCEFRACTARIO, a registered make and a product patented by ALUNDUM, S.A. and Mariano Poyatos.

With Porcefractario, the traditional made-to-measure Barbecues receive a new aesthetic look since with this new refractory in three different colours we can obtain an alternative or complementary ambience to the traditional rustic one..

During 2005, on noting the importance which is given to a better-finished product within the priority of the “Do it yourself” concept, the MODULE programme was developed, a new concept of modular Barbecues which suits an infinity of budgets, designs and measurements, which for its kit-type ease of assembly gives us the satisfaction of personalizing our Barbecue without the need for specialized labour.

In 2006, the exhibition of our products opens in our installations.

INSTALLATIONS

The production process starts in Cañada de Verich (Teruel).with the exploitation of our own refractory clay beds.

The productive activities of ALUNDUM, S.A. are carried out in a surface of 30,000m2.
